About Resource Development

The core role of this unit is to maintain a high level of public support through effective communications. The unit is also responsible for fundraising, managing donor relations, volunteer recognition and obtaining medium to long-term funding for continued core programme delivery and the expansion of the delivery of existing services to the most vulnerable.>

The unit is also responsible for media and public relations, corporate communications, proposal writing and the creation of publications as well information, communication and education materials for the respective programmes and services.

Key Fundraising Dates and Events for 2010

Branch AGMs are held each year during this time. Check the Fiji Times for AGM times, dates and venues. If you would like to become a Subscribing Member of a branch, please fill out this membership form and return to National Office with a cheque of $50. Please do not put cash in the mail.

You are also welcome to take this form and your fee directly to the branch if you wish. If you are a subscribing member you cannot be an Active Member or an Honorary Member.

8 May is Red Cross Day and as we have for the last two years, called on everyone to Wear Red on the day to show support for the humanitarian work of the Red Cross. This is also an opportunity for businesses to organise novelty fundraisers in-house with money collected donated to the Society for the National Appeal.

In early September we will post on our website the catalogue of Christmas cards for individual retail so you may still order but be advised there will be limited packs ordered for the various designs.

Support your National Society by ordering your company Christmas cards from us. If you would like the Society to place a special order for your organisation please contact National Office before the end of October to preview the catalogue, order and pay for your cards. Last year, the cards retailed for between $9 and $12.50 for packs of 10.

The National Appeal will be held from 9 to 16 October. This is the main fundraiser for the year. The target for 2010 is $70,000. If you would like to make a donation, please fill in this form and post to or drop off at National Office with your cheque. No cash is to be sent by mail.
