Why Donate?

Private donations to not-for-profits such as Fiji Red Cross help maintain free services to the community especially for those programmes that are not donor funded. When you make a donation to the Society, you can expect to receive a receipt which you may file with your annual tax return as all donations are 100% tax deductible.
As a donor, you can also expect to receive our quarterly newsletter which will keep you up to date with our various community programmes as well as new services that are being provided to the most vulnerable.

For the information of the general public the National Council in its meeting in May 2007 passed a Used Clothing Policy which effectively stops the acceptance of used clothing for distribution by the Society to its beneficiaries. In the event of a disaster, the Society distributes brand new clothes in its black packs to those affected.

Donations in-kind are welcome however, it is recommended that enquiries be made first with National Office on the nature, type and suitability of the donation before it is made to the Society.

Appeals in General

The Society launches appeals for specific reasons. In the event of a disaster and if there is a need for it, the Director General will issue an appeal for public donations (local and overseas). Any such appeal will be announced on the home page of this website. Otherwise, annually, there are two appeals through which the Society conducts its annual fundraising – the National Appeal and the Christmas Appeal.

8 May is Red Cross Day and as we have for the last two years, called on everyone to Wear Red on the day to show support for the humanitarian work of the Red Cross. This is also an opportunity for businesses to organise novelty fundraisers in-house with money collected donated to the Society for the National Appeal.
