First Aid is the First Help given to an injured or sick person, using
available resources, before the arrival of professional medical help.
The aim of the course is to highlight the importance of the 5-P Policy
and to teach the participants the procedure in delivering such assistance.

Objectives
Upon the completion of the course the participants should be able
to:
- Recognise when an emergency has occurred
- Follow a step-by-step plan of action for any emergency
- Provide care for injuries or sudden illnesses until professional
medical help arrives.
First Aid training will clarify when and how to call for emergency
medical help, eliminating the confusion that can occur in any emergency.
Course Contents
The contents of the course will teach the participants how to perform/identify
and treat the following through theory and practical exercises:
- Basic Life support priorities
- The circulatory system
- Safety/recovery position procedure
- Unconsciousness
- The respiratory system
- Expired air resuscitation
- Cardio pulmonary resuscitation
- Foreign object/chemical in the eye
- Wounds and bleeding
- Poisons
- Fractures
- Snake bite
- Soft tissue injuries
- Shark bite
- Spinal injuries

Course Duration
The course duration is 2 days of approximately six hours per day.
The first day is the theory of First Aid, and the second day consists
of practical exercises of First Aid.
Accreditation
The participants will each be issued with a total of 2 certificates.
A large (A-5 size) certificate that is able to be framed and/or included
in ones curriculum vitae. The other smaller (business card size) certificate
fits into most wallets/purses and is to be produced as proof of certification
prior to performing CPR/EAR and/or First Aid.
The First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years. Every 3 years the
participant is required to re-sit the First Aid course.
CPR certificate is valid for 1 year. Every year the participant is
required to renew their CPR certificate by attending a one-day refresher
course. The refresher course is the practical exercise conducted during
the First Aid course

First Aid - $50.00 per participant
First Aid Refresher - $37.50 per participant

Note: For courses that are requested to be held outside Suva, a minimum
of 20 participants (maximum 30) is required. In addition the client
is also requested to arrange the training venue and accommodation for
the instructor(s).
